Launching Contributarian
The hardest part of publishing is the first posting. This weblog has been almost five years in the making with many false starts. My intention is to challenge and provoke in an attempt to either present new ways of examining old problems or of reaffirming old ways of examining new problems.
We are in a time of profound challenge, beyond what has ever happened before, certainly in all of human history and perhaps in all of space and time. As far as we can directly discern, this is the time and this is the place for the celebration of self-aware intelligence. For the celebration of soul.
The challenges before us are both opportunities for staggering growth and risks of profound loss. The challenges before us are both opportunities for staggering growth and risks of profound loss. Today there are people in our midst who are working very seriously on freeing humanity from the bounds of earth so that we can step to the stars. Today there are people in our midst who are working very seriously to drive us back into primitive, subsistence existence. Our challenge is choosing whether to take the steps necessary to assure our continued to growth or to yield to the forces of chaos and be driven back to a profoundly primitive existence.
These papers are focused on two concepts:
Contributarian: The economic philosophy of abundance and liberty.
Remantle: Tearing down the old and rebuilding anew for a new world.
There will be many posts covering a variety of topics, all intended to provoke thoughtful reexamination of existing social and economic structures.
As an aside, this is project is my birthday present to myself and represents many years of experience and observation. Stick around, this could be both very interesting and very challenging.
